A comprehensive revision to the textbook on modern psychiatric diagnosis and treatment, keyed to the DSM-5 and ICD-10.
Long considered a leading text on the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of psychiatric disorders, this latest revision includes cutting-edge updates in neuroscience, psychopharmacology, and genetics. Geared to resident students in psychiatry and related disciplines, it makes practical, readable sense of the field.
“The book offers new evidence without throwing away what is already known ― the authors kept what works and added new discoveries. They place clinical information in historical context so that newer clinicians can understand how the field has evolved, and create a kind of reference manual, perhaps especially helpful for psychology students who don’t yet know all the terms. . . . Those who are just beginning in the field will appreciate the clinical cases and how decisions are made in treatment. . . . [A] good general reference on the different disorders and modalities of treatment, and those looking for updated information on the ICD-10 and the DSM-5 will find it a valuable resource.”
